An in-depth course on functional eyelid surgery

This two-day advanced course is aimed at specialists who already have basic knowledge of aesthetic eyelid surgery and would like to specifically expand their expertise in the field of eyelid malposition and reconstructive eyelid surgery.

The focus is on the differentiated assessment and surgical treatment of functional eyelid changes – including:

• Ptosis (weak eyelid elevator)

• Lower eyelid ectropion (outward turning of the eyelid)

• Lower eyelid entropion (inward turning of the eyelid)

• Eyelid retractions

• Complex combined malpositions

Contents at a glance:
Finely differentiated findings to differentiate between the various pathologies: precise examination of eyelid margin position, levator function, retraction depth, eyelid ligament stability, facial involvement and supporting anatomical structures.

Differential diagnosis and decision support: When conservative, when surgical? Which technique for which finding? How can multifactorial causes be reliably classified?

Surgical techniques in detail:

• Different forms of cantopexy / canthoplasty

• Eyelid lift, eyelid lift resection, frontal sling

• Tarsal strip techniques for eyelid drooping

• Midfacelift with orbicular refixation

• Muscle flaps for the reconstruction of complex situations

Near-to-live demonstrations: Step-by-step analyses of selected surgical techniques with commented image or video support and the opportunity for discussion in a small group.

As in the basic course, the focus is on intensive exchange, individual learning, and a practical approach to surgery. The goal is to gain confidence in diagnostics and indications – and to be able to make comprehensible and structured surgical decisions.
